Children's Rights

I've been following several different stories involving children being harmed, even murdered while in the care of a parent or step-parent.I know sadly  this is nothing new, children have lost their lives at the hands of those who were supposed to love & protect them since the beginning of time but I get very angry when the parental right's issue comes up since many times these tragedies might not have had the chance to evolve had the courts decided a child's right to be safe & protected trumped any so-called parental rights. Is it really in the best interest of any child when a Judge grants un-supervised visitation to a parent who's made documented threats to cause harm to those children?Or a parent who engages in a life style that has the potential to cause harm. There was a case here in Rockville, Maryland a few years back where Mom fought Dad in court over visitation of their 3 very young children because he  had made threats to harm the children as revenge for her divorcing him.Judge decided it was in the best interest of those 3 children to have un-supervised parenting time despite Mom's objection's and concern's.During one of those visit's he murdered his 3 children and killed himself.A selfish, cowardly act that snuffed out the lives of 3 children who had their whole lives ahead of them and left a mother without her children. She now will spend a lifetime mourning the loss of her children ,a nightmare that could have been avoided had someone cared about the rights of those children. But spending time with their father was.... "in their best interest". I hope there are some serious changes to the Family Law system ,changes that protect the children not the biological tie.

If Tomorrow never Comes~unknown~

If Tomorrow Never Comes
If I knew it would be the last time
that I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute or two
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything right.
There will always be another day
to say our "I love you's,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do's?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget,
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear,
Take time to say "I'm sorry," "please forgive me,"
"thank you" or "it's okay".
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

Where is Kyron Horman????

I've been following Kyron's story since the beginning not only just because this was another child gone missing but because he went missing from school.I guess you could say monsters are real and they have  invaded every corner of our lives.Polly Klaas was taken from her own bed and murdered, now this little boy disappears from inside a school. We have  children like Johnny Gosch and Lindsey Baum snatched off the street without a trace. Then we have Elizabeth Smart,Jacy Dugard &Shawn Hornbeck  who are snatched and kept like trophy's for some pervert's personal use.The list of missing kids is a long one and  there are too many who's cases have gone cold.I hope & pray Kyron doesn't become yet another cold case.Someone out there knows something and they need to come forward. How does a then 7 yr old child disappear from a busy school and no one saw or heard anything?LE hasn't named an official suspect but the step-mother and a few of her friends have been heavily scrutinized. She lawyered up,shut up and is holed up in her parent's home refusing to talk with police. Her daughter was taken away from her and she's not allowed any visitation but she won't fight the ruling because it might implicate her in Kyron's disappearance so she's plead the 5th.Her timeline doesn't match with what she told police but I can't figure out what could be worse than your step-child disappearing that you won't tell police? She said she was driving her toddler around for an hour and a half for an ear ache but can't remember where she went.Every action or lack of action on her part has made her look very suspicious.Throw in the emails she wrote declaring her hate towards her step son and what conclusion do you draw? Then we have the sexting issue..who in their right mind is sending sext's as well as graphic images of themselves engaged in various sexual activies to strange men  when their <step>child is missing.where is the concern as to his fate.Did she hate this sweet little boy that much?I don't know what her involvement is in Kyron's case but people do not behave in this way,not when you are talking about the life of a child. If she has no involvement then she has seriously hindered the investigation by months and I hope atleast she will be charged for that ..but something made LE look at her in the early days  after Kyron's disappearance. There is a lot more to this but the bottom line is Kyron needs to come home, his family needs to know what has happened to him and someone out there  knows. All it takes is an anonymous phone call.Where is Kyron Horman??

And so this is Christmas...

I haven't written in awhile..life has a way of side-tracking a person and there's been a lot of side tracks♥The house is coming along, slowly but surely.I've taken up painting murals and such, the creative flow helps with my grief.I'm no top notch artist but the kids love their beach themed play room so far even tho it's not done yet.My son is leaving for Navy boot camp in 4 weeks so we're enjoying our time with him still home. I pray he is safe in his journey as I pray for all those serving in the military and for their families.I am very proud of the man he has become, proud of all my children, despite the speed  bumps we've gone over in our life, they've turned out pretty alright♥I've had Danny heavily on my mind ,this will be our second Christmas without him.The tree is up,the house decorated ,presents bought, wrapped and hidden away for Santa's arrival..but it feels "hollow".Danny's not here to share it with us.I guess every Christmas will feel this way but I keep it to myself, the kids deserve to have happy Christmas's even tho I know they miss him too, they are still kids and they will have families of their own someday and those Christmas's should be happy one's as well.I made a new ornament for him this year but didn't hang it on the tree it's decorating my computer desk instead,he was such a handsome kid.On silent nights ,when friends are few.I sit alone and think of you.A silent night,a silent tear,a silent wish that you were near.Always be grateful for those whom you love & cherish. These are the angels sent to us throughout our lives, often we think we are here for them, often they are really here for us,to teach us things,to enrich us,to bless our lives.Merry Christmas my sweet angel ,someday we will dance together amongst the angels you and I♥

HaHa Who stole my ass!!Ladies BEWARE!!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:
You've heard about people who have been abducted and had
their kidneys removed by black-market organ thieves.

My thighs were stolen from me during the night a few years
ago. I went to sleep and woke up with someone else's thighs.
It was just that quick. The replacements had the texture of
cooked oatmeal. Whose thighs were these and what happened to
mine? I spent the entire summer looking for my thighs.
Finally, hurt and angry, I resigned myself to living out my
life in jeans. And then the thieves struck again.

My butt was next. I knew it was the same gang, because they
took pains to match my new rear-end to the thighs they had
stuck me with earlier. But my new butt was attached at least
three inches lower than my original! I realized I'd have to
give up my jeans in favor of long skirts.

Two years ago I realized my arms had been switched. One
morning I was fixing my hair and was horrified to see the
flesh of my upper arm swing to and fro with the motion of
the hairbrush. This was really getting scary - my body was
being replaced one section at a time. What could they do to
me next?

When my poor neck suddenly disappeared and was replaced with
a turkey neck, I decided to tell my story. Women of the
world wake up and smell the coffee! Those 'plastic' surgeons
are using REAL replacement body parts - stolen from you and
me! The next time someone you know has something 'lifted',
look again - was it lifted from you?

THIS IS NOT A HOAX. This is happening to women everywhere
every night.
WARN YOUR FRIENDS!

P. S. Last year I thought someone had stolen my Boobs. I was
Lying in bed and they were gone! But when I jumped out of
Bed, I was relieved to see that they had just been hiding in
My armpits as I slept. Now I keep them hidden in my
Waistband.

Thought this was too 'important' not to pass on. Have a
Wonderful day - with a joy filled heart. Always remember to
Laugh!! Helps the heart AND the wrinkles!!

So close to home:(..Parents:KNOW the symptoms

This is about the monster that took my 19 yr old son from us in the middle of the night. He wasn't previously diagnosed and  his death happened at onset. This is not the norm for this disease some will have had several symptoms prior but my son also had Down Syndrome and given his genetic make-up his body could not cope with the sudden attack by this disease.Sometimes the signs are subtle and mimic many other common childhood diseases. With my son it came on quickly appearing to be a stomach bug which had been making it's rounds through the house and he was gone in only 2 days.Type 1 commonly known as Juvenile diabetes can strike at any time, at any age ,it's onset is usually sudden. Please take some time to learn the symptoms and share them with your older teen/young adult children also, recognizing them may save a life.Fact Sheets: Type 1 Diabetes (Juvenile Diabetes) Facts

Affects Young Children

Type 1 diabetes strikes children suddenly, makes them dependent on injected or pumped insulin for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. While diagnosis most often occurs in childhood and adolescence, it can and does strike adults as well. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. While the causes of this process are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved.

Needs Constant Attention

To stay alive, people with type 1 diabetes must take multiple insulin injections daily or continually infuse insulin through a pump. They must also test their blood sugar by pricking their fingers for blood six or more times per day. While trying to balance insulin doses with their food intake and daily activities, people with this form of diabetes must always be prepared for serious hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) and hyperglycemic (high blood sugar) reactions, both of which can be life-limiting and life threatening.

Insulin Does Not Cure It

While insulin allows a person to stay alive, it does not cure diabetes nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating effects, which may include: kidney failure, blindness, nerve damage, amputations, heart attack, stroke, and pregnancy complications.Difficult to Manage

Despite rigorous attention to maintaining a meal plan and exercise regimen, and always injecting the proper amount of insulin, many other factors can adversely affect efforts to tightly control blood sugar levels including: stress, hormonal changes, periods of growth, physical activity, medications, illness/infection, and fatigue.

Statistics and Warning Signs

* As many as 3 million Americans may have type 1 diabetes.
* Each year more than 15,000 children are diagnosed with diabetes in the U.S. That's 40 children per day.
* Warning signs of type 1 diabetes include: extreme thirst, frequent urination, drowsiness or lethargy, increased appetite, sudden weight loss for no reason, sudden vision changes, sugar in urine, fruity odor on breath, heavy or labored breathing, stupor or unconsciousness. These may occur suddenly.

What is it like to have type 1 diabetes?

Ask people who have type 1 diabetes. It's difficult. It's upsetting. It's life threatening. It doesn't go away.

"Both children and adults like me who live with type 1 diabetes need to be mathematicians, physicians, personal trainers and dieticians all rolled into one. We need to be constantly factoring and adjusting, making frequent finger sticks to check blood sugars, and giving ourselves multiple daily insulin injections just to stay alive." - JDRF International Chairman, Mary Tyler Moore

"This disease controls our lives with all the pricking of the fingers, shots, high and low blood sugars; it's like being on a seesaw. Without a cure, we will be stuck on this seesaw till the day we die." - Tre Kawkins, 12, Michigan

"I want to live someday without thinking about my diabetes. It's a lot for a little kid to keep up with." - Luke Varadi, 11, South Carolina

"Diabetes has made me different than all my friends. I have an extra burden to carry." - Caroline McEnery, 17, Connecticut

Adventure's in Soup

In my years of making soups that I think are both  nutritious and appealing I have always found that my kids when presented with this wonderful bowl of steaming liquid  that I spent all day simmering, look down at the masses of floating vegetables and declare "Mom's trying to poison us".In my quest to find a soup for those cold winter days that my family might actually enjoy eating I decided to give Potato Leek soup a spin. After looking up the recipe I discovered most simple recipe's call for 5 ingredients.Only 5 you say?Hmmm inexpensive, filling and no floating veggies for which you are trying to poison the children..=D ...Chicken broth, potato's,leeks, bacon, heavy cream and some seasoning if you choose<salt, pepper, thyme were my choices> and I added some shredded cheddar as a garnish and a loaf of warm fresh bread on the side.Patting myself on the back  for a job well done as seconds were had by all and not one complaint. It was very creamy, filling and delicious. For a healthier version you can leave out the bacon but definitely a good choice for those with an aversion to floating veggies and those looking for a nutritious ,economical meal that's quick to prepare.
